Premier League Roundup – Goals and more

Emmanuel Adebayor was the top scoring player at the weekend. The dynamic front-man was involved in all of the five goals Tottenham put past Newcastle, creating four and scoring the fifth. Louis Saha bagged a brace and an assist, while a goal and a clean sheet was on hand for for Benoit Assou-Ekotto.

West Brom thrashed their near neighbours Wolves in the Black Country derby 5-1 and shoot-on-sight striker Peter Odemwingie scored a hat-trick. Composed defender Jonas Olsson and January arrival Keith Andrews both had great games, and James Morrison popped up with a pair of assists.

Wayne Rooney was the difference between Manchester United and Liverpool in their controversial clash after netting both goals in a 2-1 win. Manchester City remain top of the Premier League following their one-goal victory over Aston Villa and England defender Joleon Lescott helped keep a clean sheet.

In-form strikers Danny Graham and Grant Holt scored two goals and it was the Norwich striker who savoured that winning feeling against fellow high-fliers Swansea. Jamie Mackie mounted a one-man rescue mission for QPR, scoring two second half goals, but it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat to relegation rivals Blackburn.
