Robbie Williams joke proposal Live on Australian radio has spurred a massive gamble with the bookies.

Paddy Power today slashed the odds on the British singer becoming the first eligible bachelor to get engaged from 4/1 to 5/4, as news of the proposal filtered through to die hard Robbie fans.

Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power explained:

At first we just thought punters were having a flutter on the back of Robbies recent proclamations of love for Ayda but it quickly became obvious some kind of news had broken!

However, punters who hoped to cash in on Robbies happy news will have to wait for an official announcement from the pop star before the bookmaker will pay out.

In the meantime, those shrewd punters who were quick to react and have a bet will also be hoping Prince William at 11/4, Castleknock hunk Colin Farrell at 9/2 and loved up lothario Russell brand at 6/1 dont beat him to it!

Its 9/4 with Paddy Power that Robbie proposes properly before New Years Day and 2/1 he pops the question after New Years but just in time for Valentines Day.
